You’re invited to…Lab Learn: Mark Making and Movement (Lambeth Community Programme)

A workshop in partnership with Siobhan Davies Dance Company

In these schools sessions aimed at Key Stage 1 classes in Lambeth, students will explore imaginative and sensorial experiences of cause and effect. We will look at the ways in which cause and effect play out in movement and the many ways in which the moving body is affected through cause and effect.

Activities include:

• Testing the laws of cause and effect on Hexbug figures. Students can manipulate the figures and can map out journeys by mark-making onto large strips of paper. Students can create maps for movement exploration
• Use our wind machine as a starting point for exploring cause & effect on materials and bodies.
• Improvise through movement and play and perform to the rest of the group.

The workshop will be delivered using Siobhan Davies Dance’s methodology; supporting the children and their families to create and structure movement that communicate their ideas following an immersive experience, observing, questioning, tinkering and discussing. There are no taught steps. Questions will be discussed and answered through physical exploration.

When is Lab Learn: Mark Making and Movement?

The sessions are on 9 and 10 May and run between 10:00am – 2:00pm

Who is Lab Learn: Mark Making and Movement for and how much does it cost?

Lab Learn: Mark Making and Movement is suitable for Key Stage 1 classes from schools located in Lambeth. There is no cost for this event, however spaces are limited. We will be working with 2 classes of 30 students on each day.
