Lab Late: Managing the Biosphere

8th March 2018, 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

An image of the earth from space

You’re invited to… imagine a new way to tackle climate change, at Lab Late: Managing the Biosphere

Are you concerned about rapid changes facing the planet? Do you want to hear about a movement that advocates for action, driven by the people? Well this is the talk for you!

In this 70-minute animated discussion, join Angus Forbes for a drink as he paints a picture for a new way to manage the biosphere – expect music, videos, sporting analogies and mild swearing!

The talk is in 3 parts:

  • The Anthropcene 1750- 2050
  • The Global Planet Authority
  • The Vote

The Nessun Dorma concept is the proposal of the simple idea that we don’t need permission to vote into existence an authority to run the biosphere – an authority that isn’t run by politicians.

Angus argues that it is time to create a global authority without national or governmental boundaries, charged with protecting and enhancing the biosphere. It is time to create a body that could remove the risk that we face, shoulder the responsibility of our obligation to protect life on the planet and create a maintenance system for the ultra long term.

For this, Angus argues, we need an authority committed to the task, given a global mandate by the people of the world and designed to ensure the right outcome. A separate authority needs to be set up to protect and enhance the natural assets of our incredible planet.
