You’re invited to… Lab Liftoff: Micro:bit, Make & Code
Join us for a full day skills camp for children 7-12 exploring coding through creative invention using micro:bit, a tiny programmable computer, designed to make learning easy and fun!

What can I expect at Lab Liftoff: Micro:bit, Make & Code
Working in small teams, children will learn how to use micro:bit, a multifunctional, handheld, programmable micro-computer that can be used for all sorts of creations, from robots to musical instruments.

Once they have got to grips with their micro:bit, children will:

  • Invent and design from a range of open ended projects that involve coding, motors, lights and sensors
  • Learn how to code a micro-computer using the Make Code interface
  • Get creative using arts and crafts to personalise their creations, combining arts and digital technologies
  • Work together in teams to develop team working and collaboration skills and make new friends
  • Practice their presentation skills with a show and tell for the group and parents at the end of the day

The workshop is for all abilities and allows children with previous experience of micro:bit to work at a more skilled pace, if they wish.

When is Lab Liftoff: Micro:bit, Make & Code
This camp is taking place on Wednesday 20 February, from 10:00am until 4:00pm. This is a drop-off event, children do not need to be accompanied by a parent or carer during the workshop. There will be a show and tell at 3:30pm, which parents/ carers are encouraged to attend. Children should be collected at 4:00pm.

Who is Lab Liftoff: Micro:bit, Make & Code for and how much does it cost?

Ideal for children aged 7-12 years. The camp costs £65 for the full day of activities. Please note, projects cannot be taken home at the end of the day as the micro:bit computers must remain in the Imagination Lab.
