Imagine creating something that will be seen and used by 10,000 Londoners several times a day, every day – it’s the dream of many an inventor, artist, or designer.
Together with Big Dance, the Institute of Imagination is inviting 5 – 14 year olds to ‘dance through their imagination’ and enter a competition to design the iconic London travelcard holder.
The winning design will be printed onto a whopping 10,000 travelcards holders to be distributed across the capital – that’s 12 full tube trains’ worth of Londoners! Not only that, but the world’s leading augmented reality platform, Blippar, will be ready and waiting to bring the winning design to life.
Dance through your imagination
What is imagination? What is dance? Now imagine the two together – who or what would dance, where would the dance be, what music or sound would the dance be to or would it be silent? And how would the dance make the dancer or audience feel?
All you have to do is depict your fantastic imaginings onto the travelcard template that you can download here. As imagination has no bounds, neither does our competition – you can enter as many times as you like!
How to enter
Download this Big Dance Entry Pack which contains everything you need to know about how to enter.
You can either email your artwork on the travelcard template along with a Competition Consent Form filled out by a parent or carer for each entry to: email@example.com or post everything to us at:

The closing date for entries is 5pm on Monday 4 April 2016. The winner will be notified by Friday 15 April.
Competition entries will be judged by a panel that includes special guest Darcey Bussell, current judge on BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing, Gareth Binns, Chief Executive of the Institute of Imagination, Colum Elliot-Kelly, Head of Education at Blippar and Jacqueline Rose, Big Dance director at Greater London Authority.
Institute of Imagination is creating a world-class cultural destination in London that puts children at its heart, a new kind of space for imaginations to grow. It will be a dedicated space for families to make, play, create and explore together.
