RE:CODE started as a programme brought to life by the Institute of Imagination, the Mayor of London, Raising Robots and The LEGO® Group, providing London’s primary school children with a coding and robotics-based challenge to encourage them to think critically and help tackle some of our city’s biggest challenges.
Now, RE:CODE, in partnership with the Institute of Imagination, The LEGO® Group, ARC, and Raising Robots launched at UTC Oxfordshire. RE:CODE is an engaging and immersive programme providing opportunities for primary aged children (8-12) and young mentors (16-19) to take on real-life coding challenges, whilst building their confidence in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Maths) and creative problem-solving skills.
Last week, the children from local primary schools involved in the programme visited UTC Oxfordshire for an interactive workshop where their RE:CODE challenge was to build and code an inclusive eco-home. The 28 mentors from UTC Oxfordshire, all trained in the power of play, problem-solving, and using LEGO robotics kits as progressive learning tools, will guide the 200+ primary school aged students in the 8-week programme through creating, coding, and inventing.
We can’t wait to share more updates with you along the journey. Take a look at some fantastic photographs showing RE:CODE in action at UTC Oxfordshire.
