Marlborough Primary School MakerSpace
We work with schools and teachers across London and beyond – through schools sessions for pupils, continuing professional development and advice and support for the classroom. Recently we visited Marlborough Primary School, who we’ve been working with for several years. Alex Gingell, Deputy Head Teacher, shared with us how working with the iOi helped him to set up and run a MakerSpace in the school, a multi-use space for tinkering and experimenting across year groups. We loved hearing from the pupils about skills they’ve learnt in the space and why they think imagination is really important.

Fran and family
Fran and her children, Luke and Adam, have been attending events at the Imagination Lab, our events space in Lambeth, since we opened the doors of the Lab in 2017. Here, Fran and Luke tell us about their experience of the Lab, the Institute of Imagination team and how our events and activities have helped them learn and play together as a family. Mega Maker Lab
Mega Maker Lab was London’s biggest and best experience dedicated to the imagination, which ran in August 2019. Across five creative experience zones visitors tinkered, experimented, built, played and enjoyed time together. Most exciting of all, the ideas all came from young minds, our Imagination Architects, who we worked with to imagine and build the Mega Maker Lab. The Imagination Architects were over 150 young Londoners, who worked in collaboration with the Institute of Imagination and architectural educators MATT+FIONA over 4 months to bring the experience for families to life. This is the story of Mega Maker Lab.
