Design Thinking: primary education research study

12th June 2018, 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm

You’re invited to… Design Thinking Workshop for primary school educators

43829970622-41724309

We are hosting a research evening with Michelle Borda, MA student at UCL Institute of Education.

What is Design Thinking?
Design Thinking it is a powerful innovation tool that engages participants in an analytic and creative process. It is currently being used as a learning method around the world because it is seen as an effective pedagogical tool to inculcate valuable learning skills and ‘mindsets’ for children such as creativity, communication, and collaboration alongside content and subject knowledge.

What can I expect at Design Thinking: primary education research study?
In this hands-on workshop, you will experience the Design Thinking process, learn about its pedagogical ideas and look at how it could be applied in teaching the Primary Education National Curriculum (Including Topics, Art & DT, STEAM subjects and more).

This workshop is part of an MA research study to learn about teachers views and perceptions on this subject. This information sheet contains further information about the study.

Who can take part in this research study and what benefits does it offer?
We are looking for primary school teachers or support staff to participate in this study. By attending the workshop, teachers will have the opportunity to learn new skills and a new approach by experiencing Design Thinking methodology. This tool involves engaging in an analytic and creative process that can potentially enrich your professional practice. Furthermore, educational research helps those people who work in education, like academics, teachers, head teachers and support staff, to think better about how we can provide for children’s learning.

When and where is the research study?
Tuesday 12 June, from 4:30-6pm at the Imagination Lab, the Workshop, 26 Lambeth High Street. All materials and refreshments will be provided – this is a free workshop to attend.

Do I need to do anything in advance?
Yes. As this is a research study, we ask that you:
1. Read this information sheet
2. Confirm with Michelle Borda that you would like to attend via email
2. Complete this survey (it will take 10-15minutes)
3. Complete this consent form and email to Michelle Borda or bring with you on the day
