You’re invited to…Lab Learn Hub: Space Exploration
A day-long experiential workshop, helping to develop students creative, digital and innovation skills. Alongside this, teachers will take part in CDP sessions to support using creative and digital learning in their teaching.
What can you expect at Lab Learn Hub: Space Exploration?
There will be several activities at this day-long workshop.
Children will build and design a Space Exploration station using cardboard and a STIXX machine (a machine that rolls newspapers into solid sticks) to explore engineering. They’ll also have the opportunity to make and play with LEGO WeDo 2.0 robotics kits to learn the basics of coding to design, build and control creatures for an Alien Zoo.
They’ll invent a moon explorer using a combination of hobby motors, light and sound. As well as this they will explore the power of flight and gravity through junk modelling, using a wind table to test their creations to see whether they’re ready to be launched into space!
Alongside the children’s workshops we’ll be running Continuing Professional Development (CPD) sessions where teachers will get an insight into iOi to understand what our approach to learning is and how we work. We’ll run a taster of themes engaging in a variety of activities around construction, engineering, creative technology, chain reaction (science), embodied learning and invention. These CPD training sessions aim to link open-ended, child-led, cross-curricular learning to children’s ideas and imagination.
There will be a brainstorming session where teachers can identify their needs and challenges around creative learning.
