You’re invited to…Lab Life: Brain Play

Explore the wonders of the brain through creativity and making, with London Brain Project and the Institute of Imagination.

Ever wondered what makes you, you? Join us during Brain Awareness Week to discover the amazing organ inside your head. Using craft activities designed by London Brain Project and delivered by researchers and scientists, you’ll meet your brain in all it’s glory and leave with a brain goody bag, created by you!

Highlight workshops that you can take part in on the day include:

Bead your brain
Create a take-home necklace or keychain using coloured beads by decoding a map of the brain – exploring brain-behaviour relationships and discovering how our everyday activities are supported by lots of different brain regions working together.

Dream machine
Explore what dreams are made of and the parts of the brain that help us make up these nonsensical adventures in this zoetrope making activity.

How I grew to see the world
Exploring how we start to see the world in the first year of life, create a book of vision and discover how the changing brain grows to help us see the world in all its colour, shape and form.

Homunculus Hopscotch
Have a go at this interactive hopscotch, to see how our bodies and our brain are connected and work together, and see if you can get the highest score!

Jude Starbeam
Join us on a journey with space ranger Jude Starbeam who – after a run in with a meteorite – goes on a journey of self-discovery to explore how life has changed since his crash. Fun team games stimulate reflection on what life must be like for children growing up with a brain that works a little differently to our own.

Super powers
Our brains have evolved over thousands of years to help us survive, giving us humans a super special power – time travel! We can remember the past and think about the future. Design a super-power for your brain with this super hero mask-making activity.
