Digital Heroes 2022 took place across the London Borough of Lambeth. We partnered with 4 community organisations Millennium Community Solutions (Southwyck Coding and Arts Centre), The Baytree Centre, Grove Adventure Playground and Lambeth Virtual Schools to deliver exciting digital skills workshops to children aged 7 -11 years old.

Digital Heroes 2022 delivered 5 weeks of inspiring STEAM workshops to 94 children in the borough. The workshops were themed around Experimental Cities and introduced children to coding with Micro:bit and MergeCube. With the support of the iOi, our community partner organisations went on to deliver creative workshops to more than 200 children.

Feedback for Digital Heroes 2022:

“It made him more confident with coding and computers… [It] has given him something different to do with his laptop. It made him more creative.” – Parent

“We made a smart city and we used the Micro:bit and the MergeCube to create it.” – Child

“They were really entertained, and it really sparked their imagination and kept them busy. They’ve used iPads before, but not coding.” – Parent

“From the past 5 weeks, I’ve learnt so much already! My knowledge and understanding of coding has grown loads.”– Child

“Thanks to the iOi, we now work with more than 200 children a week to provide access to coding and creativity. I have never seen young people engaged so much; the impact has been tremendous.” – Community Partner, Rev. Gail Thompson, Founder of Millennium Community Solutions.

Digital Heroes has now concluded; however, it is part of the iOi’s active Communities Programme. You can find out more about the iOi’s Community events such as My Big Idea here.
