Digital Heroes is an immersive digital access and digital skills programme for disadvantaged communities. The programme is designed to increase creative thinking, digital literacy and skills, as well as build children’s confidence and aspiration for their future.
In 2022, the first Digital Heroes Programme was held in the London borough of Lambeth. Take a look inside the world of Digital Heroes in Lambeth here.
In 2023, we will be continuing to work in Lambeth, as well as launching community hubs in Newham. Children who live in the regions of Lambeth, Newham and Manchester and receive Free School Meals (or whose family receive any kind of means-tested benefit) can apply to become a Digital Hero.
For community organisations:

The iOi partners with community organisations to ensure the most vulnerable communities can be reached, so that all young people can explore the digital world and build core skills and literacies. Children attend after-school workshops where they learn to use a variety of exciting technologies, from creative coding to exploring virtual reality and robotics.
We then support our partner organisations to continue to run legacy workshops in their community, using our technology and resources. The programme is designed to build confidence, aspiration and wellbeing, as well as core digital skills and digital literacies.
