We’re opening the doors to the Imagination Lab for free as part of the Fire Engine Festival, a special one-day family event at The Workshop, London.
What is the Fire Engine Festival?
The Fire Engine Festival is a unique event taking place at The Workshop, held in collaboration with the London Fire Brigade Museum. There will be a display of historical fire engines to see and a range of children’s activities to get involved in.
The event is part of the programme for Lambeth Heritage Festival, a month long showcase of the best galleries, art spaces and cultural institutes available to explore in the Lambeth borough.
What can I expect at the Imagination Lab for the Fire Engine Festival?
As the festival is taking place in the building that was used as the London Fire Brigade’s workshop for 70 years, our workshop will be themed around fire engines!
We’ll be running drop-in workshops in the Imagination Lab for children aged 2-12. Children will get the opportunity to play and tinker with motors and LEDs. There will also be an under 5’s area for younger children.
Entry to the Imagination Lab will be free. There will be a range of free and paid activities available to take part in. Paid activities will cost between £3-5.
How can I book a ticket to the Fire Engine Festival?
Tickets are free to the Fire Engine Festival and no booking is required. Simply turn up on the day to The Workshop between 10am and 3pm.
“One of the key things that the Festival does is to open up the history of Lambeth’s people and places and to make them relevant and interesting for residents and visitors. Preserving our heritage and using it to help connect local people with the opportunities and challenges in Lambeth today is something that I am passionate about.” – Councillor Sonia Winifred, Cabinet Member for Equalities and Culture, Lambeth Council
