Focus Group: Artificial Intelligence in Toys

4th February 2020, 11:00 am - 7:30 pm

We are working with Bangor University, conducting research looking at the ethics of toys and artificial intelligence.

What can I expect?

The session will last 90 mins and will be a group of up to 12 people. We will ask you a bit about the leisure activities and toys that you and your family already take part in and like and what you avoid and dislike.

We will ask questions about your thoughts about digital toys and your current understanding of what ‘Artificial Intelligence’ might be in toys. We will ask about your likes/ dislikes and feelings about data collection and internet-connected toys and devices for your children.

You do not need to have any knowledge or use Artificial Intelligence or digital toys already. This is about hearing your views and opinions not about any technical knowledge and there are no right or wrong answers! The questions will be straightforward and there is nothing to prepare, we just ask that you are willing to talk

Why would I join?

You will be able to join a group of parents and carers for 90mins to talk about an interesting topic that relates to the future of toys for your children.

We will be providing light refreshments and offering £30 per person to those that take part to cover the cost of time and travel. We will provide the payment in cash on arrival at the focus group

Can I bring my children?

No, this is a session or adults only.

When/ where?

There are two sessions to choose from on 4 February at 11am – 12.30pm or 6-7.30pm. They will be at Second Home, 68 Hanbury Street, E1 5JL.

Who can join the focus group?

The group is open to anyone with children under 18 years old. You need to be able to stay for the full 90mins and be open to sharing your views. The sessions will be recorded and we will need to take some demographic information when you sign up, which will be used anonymously in the research.

We appreciate your interest in taking part and your input will be valuable to help shape the future of artificial intelligence in toys for children in an ethical and thoughtful way.
