You’re invited to…Lab Learn: Robotics Reimagined
A robotics and coding workshop for Key Stage 2 students, using Scratch and BBC Micro:bit.

What can I expect at Lab Learn: Robotics Reimagined
Working in small teams, Key Stage 2 students will get hands-on with playful technology using BBC micro:bit (a tiny programmable computer) and the coding programme Scratch.

Students will have the opportunity to develop a range of skills in design, coding, electronics, engineering and physical prototyping.

Here are a few of the activities that we’ve got planned:

  • Bringing toys to life with Scratch and BBC micro:bit
Students will design and build their own toys and/or objects and bring them to life by coding in the programme Scratch and attaching a micro:bit to their creation. From flying bicycles to a laughing and jumping teddy bear – they can create anything that their imagination stretches to!
  • Moving Machines using micro:bit, servomotors, wheels and arts and crafts
Students will learn how to code using the MakeCode interface to create a moving machine. Once they feel confident they can add a remote control using the radio feature for their moving machines.
  • Jitterbots, a homemade robot!
Using a combination of hobby motors, battery packs and arts and craft materials students will have the chance to invent a dancing jitter robot.

When is Lab Learn: Robotics Reimagined?
